Sneaker Wedges - Worth the hype??

Sneakers with wedges Really?? That was my first reaction on seeing these now high profile and most trending sneakers that have taken the fashion industry by storm and blame it entirely on Isabel Marant.

I remember I had seen them last year for the very first time on Kate Bosworth while looking through celebrity styles for my Style pick section. I was not at all impressed with them at that time because of the way Kate had styled them. A little boho meets sporty.. Not my style at all. But the pic seemed to be trending so much that those sneakers stayed with me.

And then I saw them on Miranda Kerr. Cmon now that girl can rock everything. I instantly fell in love with the sneakers and of the way she had styled the look. Now ofcourse I am no Miranda or Giselle but look at those girls don't you love their style. Definitely makes me wanna try out these sneakers fosho.

I totally love the sporty look and sneaker wedges are appropriate for this look.  Remember Sporty Glam.  Definitely my kind of look

I must admit that Isabel Marant's are a bit pricey at $750 but if you are a sneaker girl then I would say totally go for them. However, if you just wanna try out the style then a lot of high street brands have got them in their collection. I recently saw them in ZARA too :-) The closest to Isabels are Steve Madden's Hilights & I loved the denim ones that have just arrived in their collection so I got a pair for myself. They just arrived and I am super excited to try them out. Will do a Style shots section with these fosho. As of now just sharing the pic.. Couldn't wait for INSTA - FUF section.

Let me know if u like this trend and is it worth the hype??

Stay tuned for my style shots tomorrow - FADED FRIDAYS

Boutique find : Vyoum

Hi guys.. Hope all is well at your end. I am here to share my newest find with you people. It's always fun to discover these small little boutiques in the bylanes  of your city. I happened to come across one such place in Mumbai during my recent research. This 1500 sqft store called VYOUM , brain child of Ritu Seksaria houses a vibrant mix of designers in various categories. Ritu who is herself a designer and specializes in bridal wear is hands on with everything going on in her store. Armed with Diplomas in Fashion from London School of Fashion (UK) and Image Consultancy from Instituto De Maragoni (Milan), Ritu has been in the world of fashion since the last 15 yearsShe personally handpicks pieces from varied designers like Abhijeet Khanna, Anita Mody, Shyam Narayan Prasad, Nikasha to name a few and displays it in her store to provide you a unique & beautiful variety to choose from.

What I love about going to these small boutiques is the warmth exuded by the people in the store. I was impressed with the staff's willingness to help you with all you need to see to make a choice completely in sync with the vision of the store which is to establish personal connection with the client and make them feel at ease. That's what makes us come back to them again and again.

My favorite corner was the Accessory rack that had on display some really eye catching pieces. In particular this designer RARA AVIS by Sonal Verma that caught my fancy. Her designs are very contemporary and urban. I loved the jewelry & the clutches

I shortlisted 3 things for myself which I am most willing to share  - Flipped over this necklace. Mint green!! Remember the color of the season.

and this tomato Red Envelope clutch which was extremely pretty. The pic actually doesn't do justice to the piece. I fell in love with it the moment I set my eyes on this one. It's a combination of Red leather & pony hair kind of texture (i am saying kind cos I am not sure what texture it was.. but reminded me of Victoria Beckham fall collection). Really pretty and unique. Also the size was just right. Totally my kind.

Also loved this Red cuff. I remember seeing something similar at Swarovski. This one was at par with what I had seem and much more affordable :-)

These were the ones I have shortlisted for myself but here are some other pieces that caught my eye from various other designers. I think the prices ranged from 2.5 - 4K. Have a look.

Like I said some of the stuff is pretty unique which only a boutique can provide and it is not extremely heavy on your pocket barring a few pieces but then you have to pay a little extra for looking different from the crowd. Right!! I totally recommend going to Vyoum and checking out the stuff girls especially if you looking for some kick ass accessories. It's worth a visit.

Boyfriends are back!!

Making a huge comeback in the spring of 2013 are the coolest boyfriends.. Keep them close to you.. Hey I was talking about the coolest denim trend - Boyfriend Jeans, what were you thinking?? Give your skinnies some rest  & go on borrow from the boys -  the new mantra is casual & comfy. They are meant to be distressed, low, loose & relaxed so even if skinnies are your best friends make way for Boyfriends.

I bought my first pair of boyfriend jeans maybe 3 years ago. I was ecstatic when I first discovered them while shopping in the US cos they had just started trending at that time and not many shops were carrying these so I grrrrabbed them as if they were the last pair on earth & took them home with me. So happy & proud of my find. My misery started when for a very long time I couldn't figure how to wear. Here I bought this hottest trend of the season & they just looked horrible. I used to look like this short stout potato in them who had been hammered from the top and had therefore found way to expand from the sides eeeekkkss so I threw them somewhere behind in my cupboard and never looked back. Damn the trend!!

Much later with my trial and error I discovered that I had most certainly bought a wrong pair for myself and a completely wrong fit. A year later I chanced upon a pair from Express & i picked up a size smaller than what I usually wear. Believe me they are still my favorite for those days when nothing seems to fit me. I always tend to look for them whenever I am feeling bloated and in a mood to wear some loosely fitted casual yet smart wear.

The point of reciting this whole experience is that to be honest, they are a bit tricky because the whole look can be pretty slouchy. They are loose and slightly ill fitted so you got to be careful while picking the right one. Though they are supposed to be loose, low and slouchy yet somewhere they should be fitting u right and then pair them with the right separates. No very slouchy tops especially if u r short. Best is to wear them with a Tank top or wear them with a slightly fitted T & roll up the length a little bit. Wearing them with flat sandals just gives the whole laid back look & make them evening smart by wearing them with blazer & heels. Whatever way you decide to wear them, they can be your best friends.

Boyfriend jeans are not hard to find. I think they should be available in almost all the high street stores in some time. Zara & MANGO for sure are getting them

But some brands like J Brand, Current & Elliot , True Religion, Diesel, Paige jeans, Citizens of humanity are great names when it comes to jeans

I found some on this site called TRILOGY STORES who sell some great brands from their site eg: this Citizen of humanity DYLAN jeans that are very famous and are seen on many celebs including Rosie Huntington whitely in the pic below

or these Current & Elliot Loved Boyfriend jeans seen on JLO

My TIP : Though people say pick up a size bigger, I would say pick up a size smaller than u usually wear. They will ultimately become loose and fit u just perfect.

This spring go casual with your Boyfriends.

FUF gets doodled !!

Hey my lovely people Now that Oscars is off my list, I wanted to share this awesome doodle with you that has been created by Doodle My Mind especially for FUF..  I woke up to a pleasant surprise this morning with this Doodle sent to me and I jumped with joy on reading some awesome write up along with it. So cool. Best gift FUF can get for its Anniversary - A Special Shout out to FUF doodle... Yaaaayyyy!!

PS: Don't forget to read the write up about FUF along with the Doodle guys

Doodle My mind is this awesome blog started by immensely talented Urvi Shah Zaheer who has mastered the art of expressing her feelings through this incredibly creative way of  drawing on a sticky POST -IT. She likes to express her thoughts and experiences through this medium and like everyone else I always wait for the Doodle of the Day.

I have always & always been in awe of people who can draw. So much so that before starting this fashion blog I did some soul searching like all the other lost souls & decided to dab into some Art.  In less than a month I was banging my head against a wall and making a complete fool of myself. I will share some of my amazing (amazingly foolish) work with you some day when I am comfortably numb about ur reactions hahaha. Coming back to the topic,  It is indeed lovely to express yourself by way of Art , be it Illustrations , Sketches, Paintings or these Doodles. I wish I could do the same. Anyway everyone is not blessed with a talent like this so I have made my peace with FUF.

Some of my favorite Doodles are shared below. To see more do go to DOODLE MY MIND. It will blow ur mind :-))) & Thank u once again Urvi.

Oscar fashion 2013

It feels like coming a full circle. I started my FUF journey with picking out the best dressed for Oscars last year (Oscar Glam) and here I am doing the same for 2013. Deja Vu all over again. The Awards season officially comes to an end with this best of the best Award ceremony. The fashion A- listers bring out their Ace game to walk the biggest fashion Runway at the Red carpet and I love to hear all the speeches and the wise cracks. It's just magical. Jennifer Lawrence is the flavor of the season. Besides being the best dressed , she takes home the highly coveted best actress award too. Can't get better than that. Argo, truly one of the best movies of the year rightfully wins the best picture. I do feel little bad for Zero dark Thirty though.
Honestly Oscar Red carpet fashion has been a little disappointing this year. I hoped to pick up 13 for 2013 but I couldn't go beyond 8 -9 :-( Neutrals seemed to be the trending color this season & we saw a lot of metallic glam including Michelle Obama's surprise cameo in a black metallic Naeem Khan number. Expected a lot better from the usually best dressed Anne Hathway, Renee Zellweger, Catherine Zeta Jones and even Stacy Kiebler but they disappointed me. No Angelina Jolie leggy moment to add spice. Overall a little dull as compared to Golden Globe 2013. Here are my picks.

9.
Octavia Spencer once gain in Tadashi Shoji like last year. I love the fact that she knows what suits her and she makes it work for herself despite her unconventional body shape.  And that she manages to appear in best dressed picks speaks about her confidence & style. The off shoulder neckline & the fitted bodice works very well for her.

8.
Salma Hayek in Alexander Mcqueen. I love the neck detailing on this velvet midnight blue gown. Simple & makes a statement. That she is gorgeous is a known fact.

7.
Zoe Saldana in an Alexis Mabille couture dress. Not one of the best seen on Zoe, however her petite frame makes it work. Love the Ombre detail at the hemline

6.
Maria Menounos brings color to this otherwise neutral tones dominated event in this Hot Pink Romona Keveza gown.

5.
First of all how much weight has Jennifer Hudson lost!! She flashes her sexy leg in this high wattage Roberto Cavalli and shows off her newly acquired curves.

4.
Exuding glamour in this powder blue frothy Oscar De la Renta gown was Amy Adams.

3.
It's Christian Dior once again that makes the stars dazzle on the Red carpet. The Gorgeous Charlize Theron looked striking in this white Dior beaded peplum trimmed bodice. The V neckline and the train added the glam factor to this elegant look.

2.
Jennifer Aniston can do  no wrong in my eyes. She looks gorgeous each time every time. Known to be very selective about her Red carpet appearance, she does justice in this beautiful Red strapless Valentino couture gown. The princess skirt added all the glam that was needed while Jen kept the entire look very simple.. Gorgeous.

1.
It's been Jennifers all the way. Hudson, Aniston and now Lawrence. No prizes for guessing, J Law took home both the best dressed and the best actress trophies. Looking breathtakingly lovely once again in DIOR. Raf Simons I am officially in love with you. Jennifer's recent Miss DIOR campaign is out.. Hope u all  didn't miss it.

Do you agree with my picks?? Incase u missed out the event, you can catch the repeats and let me know your picks

Have a wonderful week.
