Fake them Fast.

Yaaayyy, its Friday again.. Suddenly we all feel so charged up as the week comes to an end. Time to catch up with friends or go out and partayyy. Ah! Life is beautiful on Fridays :-)
So what's your plan for the evening??  I am sure whatever the plan is, the best part is to get dressed up and look your sexy best. But do you sometimes feel wary to put on all that layers of make up. How about going Au Natural.

It happens to me all the time. What do I do on such occasions? Well, the simplest way to look natural and yet glam it up are a pair of false eye lashes and loads of Mascara.

Many a men have fallen prey to girls batting a pair of beautiful eyelashes so its no surprise that they make a huge impact on your overall look and if you are not blessed with naturally beautiful and lengthy eyelashes, don't loose your heart just fake it with a  pair of falsies and bat those lashes to capture a million hearts.

If you ever ask me about my Make Up essential, it will always be an eyelash curler and a Mascara. They are the best 2 weapons to give you that instant lift since you can't wear false lashes all the time.
But for evenings if I am going out and am not in a mood for a heavy eye make up I always turn to my trusted eye lashes.

However, there are a few pointers which I have learnt from my experience and would like to share with you all.

1. Before buying a Mascara, be sure what do your lashes need. Do they need length or volume?? Trust me this is important cos many a times we pick up make up items without knowing what are they doing for us. Spend some time and get the right one like I always look for volume, that's what I need.
My current favorites are l'oreal Voluminous & YSL Faux Cils Volume Effet

2. It is extremely essential to wipe off that Mascara before going to bed so do that with a good make up remover or it might cause some serious infection. Be especially careful with the waterproof ones cos they don't come off when you wash your face. You definitely need a good make up remover.

3. When applying a Mascara. Take out the wand, always wipe off the excess and then apply the Mascara or it will cause clumping and you will not get a smooth application

4. For heaven's sake never pump your Mascara. It will dry out because of all the air that will go inside.

5. If you are using false lashes take proper care of your falsies. Only then will you be able to use them 4   to 5 times. Do not use them for more than 4-5 times.

6. After taking them off soak them in a bowl of water with a drop of make up remover and Olive oil. Try to remove the glue from them. Rinse them lightly and store in the original packaging or some place clean so that they are ready to be used next time.

7. Always use high quality glue for sticking them. I would recommend nothing less than "DUO" glue stick. its the best. After all its your eyes.

8. I always curl my lashes and apply mascara before putting on the lashes. That way they remain clean.

If you aren't used to applying falsies, it could be a pain. I have been using them for years now and it gets difficult  & messy when I am out of practice. You do require patience and practice to apply them. But trust me once you get used to these, they can be highly addictive.

There are a variety of these available  in the market. Depending on how much drama you want, choose the one appropriate for your style but always keep one natural pair that adds volume for those casual occasions. MAC, Inglot, Make Up for Ever have these. Sephora eyelashes are great too.
Ardell, Red Cherry and Revlon are some drugstore brands that you could try. Ardell is now available with TBB ( The Beauty Bar) in Mumbai

I have culled out a video of a MAC Make up expert on how to apply lashes. It is one of the best I came across so sharing it with all of you

Let me know if you tried these out

Have a great weekend & look sexxaayyy.

One Piece Wonder

I was fascinated by this one piece wonder from my childhood. My memories take me to the time when I would see my dad go for Maruti Suzuki  meetings wearing his Dungarees. It was the most convenient outfit since he had to go to the shop floor and inspect the carpets that were laid in the car. He was working for the company that supplied carpets to one of the biggest car manufacturers and had to spend hours on the shop floor. He used to keep telling me how convenient this piece of clothing was and it sure looked very cool on him. I insisted on getting one such piece for myself and that's when I got my first Denim Dungarees.
Many years later this trend was seen back on the Runways as Jumpsuits and I would smile thinking how a utilitarian garment had morphed into a big fashion item.

Needless to say my fascination with Jumpsuits continued as I grew older and I still feel that it's the most convenient and fashionable piece of clothing. It's one savvy piece of garment that combines functionality with glam. It could easily transition from a day to night wear with a little change of footwear and accessories. How convenient!! No wonder the glam brigade has embraced this trend with great aplomb. Be it some glam red carpet event or a party or just a casual outing.

Many people are scared to wear a jumpsuit thinking they are short or do not have a perfect body. Let me tell you I am neither tall nor do I have a perfect bod but I wear jumpsuits very often. It's just about finding the right fit for your body type. If you thought these are only for size 0s then you are wrong. They are almost for every woman or body type.
eg: if you are heavier at the bottom, look for a piece that will attract attention towards your shoulders so you could wear a halter neck or an off shoulder.

If you are heavier on top and have nice legs, wear a jumpsuit that accentuates your legs. It could be slightly tapering at the bottom.

If you are short try and wear a belt on your waist which is lower than your natural waist to give an effect of height. Vertical stripes will work for you. Opt for heels with your jumpsuit.

There are different kinds available. Some that are tapered at the end, some have cuffs at ankles, some are loosely fitted and some are wide legged. Don't be shy to try them on and figure out which one is looking good on you.

Monochrome jumpsuits look very good especially Black look the best and give you a slim effect.

or a dark navy blue

Plain White looks good too if you can carry them off

You could opt for Printed ones too

You could play with the length

Accessorizing with a statement piece in the evening would be a good idea

India hardly sees any season as fall and spring. For us its either summer, winter or monsoons. But it's the best time to wear this one piece when getting into fall and you are bidding goodbye to your Summer shorts. Its a perfect transition piece.
Aren't these wonderful, So next time you see them on one of your shopping trips, do give it a try and add one in your wardrobe.

Make a Statement!!

Hey People First of all thank you so much for an amazing response to FUFie of the Month ( U pronounced as in TOUGH,  had to mention this cos lot of people I know have been pronouncing it wrongly ). It is truly encouraging and makes me want to do better every time. I for sure know that we all want to see more Real people whom we can totally identify with and I am trying to work out more ways to make that possible.

Coming back to what is my latest obsession. Off late I am drawn towards Statement Necklaces. Those who read FUF  regularly know that I am not much of an accessory person. I hardly wear any piece of jewelry  but I am discovering the potential of these necklaces and let me tell you I am totally loving what I am seeing. More so because it remarkably makes a difference in your entire look and its the new way to get more mileage out of your current wardrobe.

When I say Necklace I mean those big and bold beautiful pieces that scream for attention cos that's what will help you make a Show stopping Statement , Right??

It is meant to transform your outfit, change the look, spice up a subdued dress or just add more glam to an already glamorous look.

What I like about these necklaces is that they are not just for your cocktail dresses. You can wear them with a plain denim shirt or a white T Shirt or a Tank Top and jeans and they look highly impactful.

That's what I do these days.. Wear these chunky pieces with the most basic outfit like a romper or a White T shirt and it looks bang on stylish.

I fell in love with them when I first saw Lipstick Jungle. I used to love both Victory Ford and Nico Reily. While Victory (Lindsay Price) wore some of the cutest outfits and accessories that depicted the quintessential free spirited fashion designer, Nico's (Kim Raver) style was more professional, confident and fierce. She wore some amazing pieces around her neck and that's what caught my attention.

Then ofcourse came Gossip Girl which inspired many. Apart from Serena Van der Woodsen (Blake Lively ) & Blair Waldorf (Leighton meester), who can forget the Glamorous Gossip mom Lily Van der Woodsen (Kelly Rutherford) and her eye catching statement pieces.
She played the sophisticated Upper East side mom to the hilt and wore some truly elegant jewelry in the show.

Serena of course is a style icon for many and she mixed and matched a lot of these pieces with her casual as well as glamorous look.

Its a very versatile piece of jewelry and the best part is you can wear it with both a casual or a formal attire. They could be pearls, stones, crystals, glass, plastic, shells or just chains. Anything that stands out and gets you a guaranteed second look :-)

Black is the perfect canvas for these glamorous pieces & nothing is more glamorous than black.

Off shoulder dresses are perfect for this look if you wanna go glam

A little bit of evening glamour

Don't be afraid to put 2 - 3 pieces together. More the Merrier

I love the way Olivia Palermo styles her statement necklaces for a casual day look. I simply adore her style.

Bib Necklaces are the latest trend and will be seen all over

Turquoise stones are my most favorite ones. The color looks absolutely brilliant

These necklaces need not be expensive but look for a chunky piece that should be able to add a pop of glam or color to your outfit. In Mumbai I know Zara has them but the other place to go would be Curio Cottage.

The chunkier, the funkier that's the rule!!
